A unique homestead on a sandalwood farm takes its cues from farm buildings in its simple steel structure and form.

Designed as a simple shed-like form, the home has two wings separated by an under cover pool that is the heart of the home. A wrap-around reverse - pitch verandah mediates between the inside and out and allows winter sun to penetrate deep into the home for the cold winter mornings of the region. It also significantly adds to the usable space of the home with its recycled jarrah ceilings and sandstone floors.

The Butterfly shaped roof collects all the rainwater for the 400 000 litre rainwater tanks that supply the home, pool  and some of the farm.

We cannot imagine living in any other home or how any other home could possibly fit as well as this one does. I love the way the house fits into its location and feels right from every angle.
