This 9 Star Energy Efficient small Ancillary home (granny flat) packs a lot of punch into its small footprint.

The home was designed in an existing garden to serve as a Studio for an eco-builder and to demonstrate sustainability to his clients. Incorporating alternative building materials such as a prefabricated insulated panel roof, the home achieves a 9 Star Energy rating.

Energy efficient appliances and lights, rainwater collection and a water-wise garden all add to the sustainability criteria of this small project. Internally the spaces are designed for Ageing in Place, and with low allergen materials such as low VOC paints and polished concrete floors. Ceiling fans and high level louvre windows allow cooling breezes in summer while winter sun warms up the slab and walls in winter making the home comfortable year round.
